What Is Spotify Wrapped?
Spotify Wrapped allows listeners to see a bunch of cool stats about their listening habits throughout the year. For example, you can see the artists you listened to most, the songs you listened to most, what your favorite genres were, how many minutes you spent listening to music and much more.
Spotify makes a pretty big spectacle for wrapped, and the whole thing really is quite fun. They even assign everyone a ‘type’ that defines what type of listener you are. Spotify makes it quite easy for you to share the results of your wrapped with your friends and followers on social medias well.
There is also a Spotify Wrapped for artists as well. Artists can see how fans engaged with their music, how many listeners had them as a #1 artist, what countries listened the most, etc. Prior to Wrapped releasing Spotify encourages artists to go onto Spotify for Artists and update several aspects of their profile in preparation.
Unfortunately in 2024 Spotify got rid of the ability for all artists to record a special message for their fans like in previous years, as they decided to gate-keep that feature to only larger artists who have access to Spotify Clips.
When Does Spotify Wrapped Come Out?
Spotify Wrapped should be coming between November 26th and December 6th. There isn’t an official date for Spotify wrapped in 2024, but every year it typically comes out at the end of November or the beginning of December. Here are some dates for previous years:
- 2023: November 29th
- 2022: November 30th
- 2021: December 1st
- 2020: December 1st
- 2019: December 5th
- 2018: December 6th
If Thanksgiving weren’t on November 28th i’d think that was the release day. My guess is that they’ll either release it on November 26th or 27th, or wait until December 3rd or 4th to avoid Thanksgiving, Black Friday and the holiday weekend.
When Does Spotify Stop Tracking?
Since you get your Spotify Wrapped during the year, you don’t get an entire year of data. But what is the tracking period, and what is the cutoff date? Well this year artists were given a cutoff of November 16th to update their profiles for Spotify Wrapped, so that is a likely cutoff date. Previously people assumed it was October 31st but Spotify has publicly said that wrapped counts into November.
The only thing we can say for sure is that the cutoff is some time in November, and the tracking period is January 1st to November something.

To access Spotify Wrapped you typically just open the Spotify app on your phone and it will be right on the home page. If you don’t see it you can go to https://www.spotify.com/us/wrapped to find it.
