Did you know you can schedule Instagram and Facebook posts, images, videos and stories for free? There are a lot of services that will charge a subscription fee to do this exact task and a lot of artists use them, but for many people it’s not necessary.

Some of you may be wondering why someone would pay for a service to schedule social media posts, which is a fair question. There are a few reasons for this:

  • As a musician or any type of content creator, consistency is very important to growing your social media platform. Scheduling makes staying consistent much easier.
  • Batching content creation is often a great strategy, as opposed to being tied to making new content every day. Scheduling allows you to batch schedule your batch created content.
  • It frees you from the burden of going on social media every day to post, where inevitably you end up spending a few minutes wasting time consuming content.
  • You can post from your computer where typing is faster, you can copy and paste, and you can easily reference other posts you’ve done in the past.
  • You can plan out multiple posts to have a tie-in with each other, making your content feel more cohesive and planned out.

Facebook (Meta) is incredibly confusing, and in typical Meta fashion there are two main ways to schedule posts:

  • Meta Business Suite
  • Creator Studio

Since for some reason not everyone has access to Creator Studio, I recommend you use Meta Business Suite to schedule your posts.

For those of you that aren’t a fan of using your cell phone considering Instagram is mobile-only, Meta Business Suite also provides a way to see your analytics and reply to comments on your Instagram page from your computer.

At the moment you can’t schedule Instagram Reels, which is a shame considering those will provide you the most organic reach. However recently Instagram made a change where all videos uploaded to Instagram are considered Reels, and i’m not sure how that works considering they still have a separate Reels page on your profile.

A couple years ago I covered how to schedule posts on Creator Studio (the tool that not everyone has access to). You can watch that video here:
